Amazon Prime Video is rolling out the multiple profiles per account globally

Amazon Prime Video, Amazon’s video streaming service, is catching up with other video streaming platforms, with the launch of multiple profiles per account globally. As we discussed at the time, multiple profiles per account began to reach some markets at the beginning of last spring to now become a global feature, whose deployment is taking place in phases.

Each user account can have a maximum of six profilesThere is a main profile, that of the owner of the account, which cannot be deleted, plus another five additional ones, which can be added and removed, and can be regular or child.

As in Netflix or HBO Max, among others, children’s profiles filter content, allowing the visualization only of those that may be suitable for the little ones.

Managing multiple profiles can be done both from mobile applications and from the Amazon Prime Video web. Obviously, each profile will have its own personalized recommendations, viewing progress, and watchlists based on its own activity history.

It is striking that Amazon has been slow to offer this feature, so present for a long time in other video streaming platforms, and that from now on it is in Spain and will be reaching the rest of the world.

For now, it remains to be seen how many profiles can transmit simultaneously in the same Amazon Prime user account, and for now users will not have the ability to customize the avatars that represent their profiles, as only allowed by platforms such as Netflix or Disney +.

Those who do not want the possibility of having multiple profiles in their accounts, can deactivate this feature, but once they deactivate it, they will not be able to activate it again, so they will have to think about it before taking the step.
