Apple to invest $ 1 billion in proprietary content

Everyone wants to compete with Netflix, not just HBO or Disney, and now Apple is the one who is into fashion.

According to the WSJ, Apple will invest up to $ 1 billion in a year, a risky move to forcefully enter the world of video and offer it in its subscription service.

Initially, 10 new exclusive contents will be offered, but we do not know whether it will be in the form of a series or some shorter format (YouTube video type). What seems clear is that it will be material that we can enjoy from mobiles or TV using Apple's own subscription system.

Apple recently hired two executives from Sony Pictures, which has already generated rumors in this regard. Now the bet for entertainment is obvious, although many already comment that it is a parallel platform, independent of Apple Music, which we will see in 2018.

Those responsible for programming the company have already had meetings with Hollywood agents to negotiate the programs that Apple will buy, and all with a budget that reaches half of what HBO spent last year on content.

At the moment it is information sent to WSJ by sources of the company, there is no official note from Apple, so we will have to wait a few months to obtain more information.
