Arnold is the 3D rendering software used in special effects for movies and series like Thor, X-Men; First Class, Ex Machina or Game of Thrones, among many others.

The company behind this software, Solid Angle, is now part of the company specializing in Autodesk design solutions, without any of them having disclosed the terms of the agreement.

According to Solid Angle, nothing will change in Arnold, where his team will continue to develop and support the technology behind Arnold.Furthermore, the development of Arnold plugins for design solutions such as Katana, Cinema 4D, Hudini and Softimage will continue, in addition to other solutions available on both Windows and Linux as well as Mac OS X. In this sense, Autodesk wants continue to have Arnold as independent software with support for both the products themselves such as 3DS Max and Maya and for third-party applications.

In this way, Solid Angle will have the resources and experiences necessary to continue allowing artists to create elegant animations and special effects from different platforms and workflows by developing and improving numerical methods and algorithms to improve the quality and performance of its rendering technology, also allowing it to be taken to more users around the world.

In this sense, Autodesk thus expands its portfolio of specialized products and services in the field of design, as it has been doing in recent years.
