Microsoft has released a WordPress extension that will help webmasters to send their website addresses to the Bing search engine.
It is an open source plugin that allows WordPress site webmasters to easily, automatically and immediately get their content indexed by Bing as soon as their content is published.
Since 2019, website owners can submit up to 10,000 URLs per day, and more if requested, through the Bing Webmaster Tools portal, as well as the Bing Webmaster Tools API for immediate crawling and indexing. Now it is possible to do it more easily with the Bing Webmaster Tools plugin. Once installed and configured with an API key obtained from the Bing Webmaster portal, the plugin detects page updates and new pages created in WordPress and automatically sends the URLs to the search engine.
Some other useful functions included in the plugin:
– The ability to turn the automatic submission feature on and off. – Manually submit a URL to Bing Index. – View the recent URL submission list from the plugin. – Retry any failed submission from the recent submission list. Download recent URL submissions for analysis.
To obtain the API key, just click on the link on the internal page of the plugin, being necessary to access the Bing Webmaster portal to be able to collect the generated code.
Although Bing is not a very used search engine if we compare it with Google, it is the one that millions of people around the world have by default, so it is worth paying attention to it.
