Google extends Google One backups to all Android users

A little less than a year ago, Google started offering automatic backups on Android phones. for those users who are Google One subscribers, their subscription service, with which they obtain additional benefits over the basic capabilities of Google accounts, going beyond the basic backups of Android mobile phones.

Now, Google surprises us by extending the automatic backups of Google One to all Android mobile users for free, without the need to be subscribers of this service, although I know you need your application to benefit from backups.

In addition, it promises that it will soon bring this experience to iPhone users through the launch of the Google One application for iOS, although it has not defined when the arrival will occur.

Most likely, this extension to non-subscribers of Google One will serve as a gateway for new subscribers to reach the service to search for additional storage that they have in their free accounts, among other benefits, taking advantage of the fact that the extension of this feature encourages the installation of the Google One application on more devices.

Note that this extension reaches all users of personal Google accounts and not to G Suite customers, the company tries to clarify.

In turn, Google is introducing its new free storage management tool, making it easier for users to manage everything they have in Google Photos, Google Drive and Gmail, integrating throughout these days within the Google One application and also available through the web.

Over time we will see if this change in strategy has been working for them, and what other news they are able to offer in order to try to convert more users into Google One subscribers.
