Google is working on new options to enhance the dynamics of Google Maps.
The Google Maps app already has many functions that make it easier to move around, plan trips, find businesses, among many other options. And now it is preparing to add new functions for those who travel by public transport.
As shared by Jane Manchun Wong, these new options will allow you to combine different services. This is an interesting dynamic for large cities or long-distance trips where users have to resort to several connections to reach their destination.
For example, you can choose bicycle + public transport if your trip consists of cycling to the bus stop, and then continue to your destination by bus. Other combinations could be car + public transport, motorcycle + public transport. And you can even select the option of a travel service, like Uber.
In the latter case, it seems that Google Maps will go a little further by providing information about the trip rates just by linking the app to the shared transport service. A function that seems to work with Uber in a first stage, although the user will always have control over the data they share with other services.
In addition to these functions, Google Maps could also bring some changes in the design of the cards to make them more visual, giving more importance to the photographs of the places. One detail to keep in mind is that these features are still under development, so we don’t know when, or in what way, these new features will be implemented in the application.
