Popcorn Time has become the king of streaming movies and series on the Internet in no time, but now comes this alternative to watch movies and series online on iOS and Android.
Playbox is a very similar application, but while Popcorn Time focused on the desktop, this alternative has first released versions for iOS and Android. Playbox allows us to watch movies and TV series streaming on our mobile device quickly and directly, without getting lost in infinite menus or doing anything strange.

The interface is largely to blame, since for now we can only see the most popular releases and films in a list; we also have a search function and a view by categories. In the menu we can switch between cinema, television series, cartoon series and anime; We also have access to the configuration menu, but this is practically deserted and the only real change we can activate is a mode for children. At least we have Chromecast compatibility.
More basic features are also missing, especially in the less advanced version for Android. Although the official page promises support for subtitles, at least in the tested Android version there is no way to enable or disable them and we depend on the person who uploaded them to have integrated them into the original video file.
In the iOS version it is possible to download the video files for watch them offline, something that is not possible on Android. However, it can be seen that Playbox is taking its first steps and that it still has a long way to go if it survives.
Do not look for Playbox in official stores; it is evident that it is an illegal app in many places and doubtful in others. So the only option we have is to download the apk package in the case of Android and use a direct link from Safari in the case of iOS; fortunately in this last case it is not necessary to jailbreak our device.
