DreamWorks Animation has just been acquired by NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of Comcast, for the amount of 3.8 billion dollars, where it will be part of the unit Universal Filmed Entertainment Group along with Universal Pictures, Fandango and NBCUniversal Brand Development. According to Steve Burke, CEO of NBC Universal, DreamWorks Animation will assist them in content for film, television, theme parks and consumer products businesses over the next few years.The agreement has been approved by the boards of directors of both companies, in which it has been determined that each shareholder of DreamWorks Animation receives $ 41 in cash for each ordinary share. Once the transaction is closed, Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO and co-founder of DreamWorks Animation, will become the president of DreamWorks New Media, where he will take charge of both Awesomeness TV and NOVA as well as other new consumer media.
Regarding the parent company, Comcast, it is known for offering cable television, telephone and high-speed Internet access services in the United States. With the acquisition of DreamWorks Animation by NBCUniversal, its position is reinforced in the content that leads its users in addition to related businesses.
