Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Redmi, has launched its own laptop:the RedmiBook 14.A product that follows the line of the firm with a cheaper price but at the same time with a series of shortcomings in terms of connectivity. Not so much power, since even with Intel Core processorsmaintains the value for money.
New RedmiBook 14: lots of power but sparse in connectivity
This new Redmi laptop has a clear focus: to be an accessible laptop that does not lose in performance. Along with the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro, this notebook aims to competeagainst Honor MagicBook 14.Its specifications are quite noticeable given the price, although we are notbefore a gaming laptopfar from it.
To start we have various configurations that startfrom an Intel Core i5-8265Ualong with a 256 GB SSD storage. In addition to having a higher version of 512 GB, we can also access aIntel Core i7-8265U,belonging to Whiskey Lake. In this configuration, the i7 has a not inconsiderable 4 cores and 8 threads.
As for the GPU, we don’t have a particularly powerful graphics card; we countwith an Nvidia GeForce MX250,Although it is clear that this laptop is designed more for multimedia use than for gaming. Still, it is more than decent graphics and above all superior to the integrated Intel of some more expensive laptops.
As for the screen we have a panel14-inch Full HD IPS,running out of honeys from 2K or QuadHD. The frames are accomplished, although the bottom frame is quite considerable. The autonomy that Redmi claims to have this RedmiBookis about 10 hours, although it does not specify in which tasks. According to Redmi, it has a more efficient ventilation system than the MagicBook, 25 percent more. As for the RAM we have 8 GB versions only.
The weakest point of this device is its connectivity, since although we have HDMI, USB type A 3.0 and 2.0 and a 3.5-millimeter jack,it doesn’t have USB-C,An almost essential connection on these days and that other competitors of a similar range do, such as the Huawei MateBook 13.
