Pinterest presents its version of stories: the new Story Pins

Stories that started on Snapchat have taken the world of the social web by storm, and now everyone wants to have them on their platforms.

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Spotify … they have all been putting or have it on the to-do list, and Pinterest could not be different.

Last year, Pinterest also joined in by experimenting with a feature called Story Pins that allows creators to share their ideas in a format similar to Stories. These Story Pins may contain multiple pages of text, images, video, and links, but the new format was never released to the public. Now they are back on the scene to bring to an expanded group of American creators a new second version of Story Pins that offers inspiring content.

Pinterest explained that people were looking for optimistic messages that are positive, and believe that creators can help at that point, something very necessary in times of pandemic.

Story Pins are designed as clickable content to share ideas. It can be a step by step to cook a recipe, or ideas on how to reorganize the office or the room, for example. They will adapt to what people look for most during quarantine: remote work, crafts, and more.

Last year they already tested it in some countries in Europe, but the one they now present in closed beta in the United States is something different. The current version now offers a native experience where all content lives within the Story Pin, it has no links to external platforms. This new version has also added more creative editing and publishing features, such as theme tagging, color customization, video support, and other details.

You can see some examples in this TC post.
