TiMi Studios, the subsidiary of Tencent Games, has announced the arrival of a new title similar to DOTA 2 and League of Legends: Pokémon Unite, an online battle arena multiplayer video game (MOBA) that brings a lot to offer on the table.
The Asian company has teamed up with The Pokémon Company to present a new game from the popular Pokémon franchise, although this time moves away from the dynamics of Pokémon Go to give way to battles between groups. This is the official trailer together with all the information.
Pokémon characters + League of Legends-like playstyle = Pokémon Unite
The official video of the presentation was released a few hours ago and thanks to it we can see what Tencent has been cooking for a long time. As seen in the trailer, players can be in battle arenas and form groups of up to 5 people to face off with 5 other users, which represents the typical 5 vs 5 game mode.
By now, we’ve seen that high-caliber pokmons like Pikachu, Snorlax, Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur are included. However, more characters will surely be added when the game is ready to download.
According to what we have been able to contrast, Pokémon Unite allow cooperative game to conquer areas of the map, capture pokmon, get experience points to improve the characters and level up.
Another relevant fact is that it is a crossover video game, which means that both users with mobile devices and Nintendo Switch will compete. Likewise, it has been known that the game will be free-to-play, but will also feature paid reward packages.
Being a Pokémon MOBA does not assure you of success
In this sense, it should not be overlooked that although it is such a successful franchise, it is still in doubt whether the game will be the sensation of the year, since taking as an example the receptivity in the comments of users on YouTube, the criticism stands out from the praise.
But come on, it’s still too early to forecast a title that does not have an official release date. We hope to update the article when we know the day of the Pokémon Unite release on the Nintendo Switch, on iOS and Android.
