Reddit launches anonymous browsing mode in its applications

If you prefer to enter Reddit from its mobile application then you will be interested in knowing one of the news that you will see in its next update.

As the Reddit team mentioned, the app will have a new navigation mode to give more privacy options to users from mobile. When the user chooses to browse Reddit in this mode, they will not be able to perform any activity related to their account, so they will not be able to participate in any form of interaction.

But that shouldn’t be a problem, as you can switch between anonymous mode and your account in a few clicks, as you see in the image. The Reddit team explains how this new system works, and what differentiates it from the previous anonymous mode option.

Simply put, when you enter anonymous browsing mode, Reddit assigns you a unique ID as if you were a user entering Reddit for the first time. And this resets every time you enter and exit anonymous browsing.

One detail to keep in mind is that the anonymous browsing mode ends automatically when it detects 30 minutes of inactivity. And of course, all searches or browsing on Reddit while it is activated will not be part of the history, nor will they be taken into account to offer personalized recommendations.

This will be like the initial version of this new anonymous browsing mode, since as mentioned, they are open to comments to consider possible changes in the future. This mode will be implemented in Android in the next few days, and in iOS it will arrive in the next few months.
