Google has also made other headlines today. In this sense, the company has chosen this day to also present the new generation of Nest Hub smart displays, starting from the base of the original model on which a series of improvements have been implemented.

The most prominent, without a doubt, is the arrival of the Soli project chip for motion detection, which, integrated into the second generation of Google Nest Hub, allows users to manage media playback through Quick Gestures. , although in Google they have focused it mainly for its use in the monitoring of sleep, and the possible alterations throughout the night that may occur, through the new function called Sleep Sensing.

This function, which comes as an option and is in a free preview phase until next year, will not only monitor completely, paying attention to movements and breathing, but also offer reports on the quality of sleep and personalized recommendations on habits, also having the corresponding integration within the Google Fit application for Android and iOS, and in the future will also include integration with Fitbit’s sleep tracking functions.

Designed for health and well-being

Sleep Sensing is a function that will be available in the preview phase until next year as an alternative to using quantizer bracelets and other devices, although the new Google Nest Hub is also prepared to help you sleep and wake up, with soothing sounds with those that help to fall asleep, and the gradual lighting of the screen when waking up.

Likewise, thanks to the Motion Sense function based on the Soli project chip, the alarm can be postponed with a simple hand gesture.

Google also points to the integration of a machine learning chip to locally manage common requests to the Google Assistant, although it is only functional in the United States, in addition to the integration of the new Thread connectivity standard, which simplifies the management of devices. connected from home, although at the moment it is not functional.

And in terms of acoustic quality, the new generation of smart screens offers up to 50% more bass than the original model, and in terms of sustainability, Google points out that it has been made with recycled plastic, where the plastic mechanical parts use up to 54% more post-consumer recycled plastic.

Relating to privacy

The company wants to clarify that Motion Sense only detects movements, neither faces nor bodies, trying to reassure users concerned about their privacy, where in addition, this model maintains the same design as the original version, under a free front camera experience.

The second generation Google Nest Hub is available today from the Google Store and other retailers in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, France and Australia for $ 99.99.
