Nobody usually likes to leave money in a smart mobile phone, and that in any carelessness, it falls to the ground and the screen breaks, leaving the phone completely useless.
Fortunately, it has been innovating in the technologies of physical protection of mobile phones, Gorilla being a benchmark in this field, now reaching a new milestone with the most resistant Gorilla Glass of the moment, the Gorilla Glass Victus, surpassing in resistance to falls even the Gorilla Glass 6, launched in 2018.
Protection against drops and scratches
The company explains that, although its technological solution has been improving throughout its iterations, until now it has focused on protecting the life of the phones at the cost, that is, of presenting scratches and scratches, which spoil the usability of the phones. the same.
And considering that in some major markets, the durability of the phones is a factor to take into account, where even users are willing to pay a little more for having more resistant phones (let’s not forget that there are also models with the back in glass), Corning has worked to include both drop resistance and scratch protection in the equation, with the complexity that this entails, the new Gorilla Glass Victus being born from this new approach.
The company takes its chest out of the protection solutions of rival companies with the following statement:
In laboratory tests, Gorilla Glass Victus achieved a performance drop of up to 2 meters when dropped on hard and rough surfaces. Competitive aluminosilicate glasses from other manufacturers often fail when dropped from less than 0.8 meters.
But also, it shows that Gorilla Glass Victus is even considerably superior to Gorilla Glass 6, which was to date the most resistant technology against falls:
Gorilla Glass Victus also outperforms Corning Gorilla Glass 6 with up to 2x improvement in scratch resistance. In addition, the scratch resistance of Gorilla Glass Victus is up to 4 times better than competing aluminosilicate glasses.
It is already a matter of time that the new solution for the protection of mobile devices will reach the market. In this sense, Corning already anticipates that Samsung will be the first mobile phone manufacturer to adopt Gorilla Glass Victus.
