This is how Facebook supports the black community

This year 2020 is being hell for many people, but if all goes well, we will end the year wiser, with fairer policies for all, with more investment in health, with more respect for the healthcare community and more equality for the communities. who have suffered from the racism that permeates the human race.

Now it is Facebook who defines what it is doing in this last point, in the measures they are taking to improve their products, programs and policies.

Among other things, they are investing an additional $ 200 million to support black-owned businesses and organizations, part of a larger investment reaching $ 1.1 billion in black and diverse vendors and communities in the United States.

They have also created a new space on the Facebook application called Lift Black Voices, and they have publicized policies to make their workforce more diverse and inclusive.

In summary, this is what they are doing:

– Invest $ 100 million this year in small black-owned businesses, black creators, and nonprofits that serve the black community in the United States.

– Spend at least 1 billion with suppliers next year and every year after.

– Create the Elevate program where they intend to reach 1 million members of the black community and 1 million members of the Latino community in the United States. This program provides free training in digital skills.

. Give 100,000 scholarships to black students working toward digital skills certifications through Facebook’s Blueprint program.

– Donate $ 19 to each user who raises funds on Facebook for three racial justice organizations (up to a maximum of 5 million in total).

In short: make up for lost time, move the scale so that there is more balance, although there is an educational work that is much more important: trying to eliminate any trace of racism in the new generations, and that can only be done within each home.
