TikTok prepares to leave China to have headquarters in another country

During the last few weeks we have seen how TikTok is being withdrawn from some markets. The loudest case has been that of India, and it has always been the same reason: TikTok collects a lot of data from users, and being in China, it is feared that the government of that country may use the information for political reasons.

In an attempt to calm the world, TikTok’s owner Bytedance is planning to move its headquarters to China to establish a more global identity.

The information has been given by the Wall Street Journal in a report, where it can be read that Bytedance is planning a review of the corporate structure. In addition to moving the head office out of China, it is also considering the creation of a new administrative board for the application.

Being an app with a huge level of growth worldwide, TikTok has to consider a global strategy, but it also has to redefine its privacy policy and its transparency, so that it is clear that they do not collect more data than is strictly necessary. On the other hand, it is also necessary to verify the content policy, so as not to expose minors to content that may be harmful.

Recall that former Disney executive Kevin Mayer was hired to direct international operations, so it is possible that there is some influence from that person in this new movement.

What they are trying to do is prevent more governments from closing their doors on them, as it is important to remember that a few days ago US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the government is certainly looking into banning Chinese apps, including TikTok.
