Twitter suspended account verification in 2017, as Jack Dorsey acknowledged, the system was broken and needed to be fixed. So they announced a hiatus in the system for a while until they resolved the situation.
A hiatus that has already lasted several years, but it seems to be coming to an end. Twitter is developing a new system to request verification, as seen in some screenshots shared by Jane Manchun Wong.
As seen in the images shared on Twitter, the option to request verification is available in the account settings, along with personal information. From there, the user will have to initiate a process following the indications of Twitter.
According to TC, this verification system will be accompanied by a series of new policies that will be public to make the process more transparent, and users know with certainty what requirements are required and how this verification works.
Recall that this pause of the verification system was kept half, since Twitter used verification for special cases. For example, it verified candidates and officials during the elections stage in the United States, and also to verify experts who share reliable information about the coronavirus. However, it is not an option available to individual users.
At the moment, Twitter has not mentioned when it plans to implement this new system, so we will have to wait to see what the steps to follow and the requirements to request the famous blue verification badge will be.
